Lupin received US FDA approval for Ranluspec, its interchangeable biosimilar referencing Lucentis. It is the only interchangeable biosimilar ranibizumab approved in the US in both vials and pre-filled syringes, across 0.3 mg and 0.5 mg strengths. The drug treats eye conditions including wet age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, and retinal vein occlusion. This is Lupin's second US biosimilar, strengthening its complex biologics portfolio.
Positive for Lupin as the approval expands its US biosimilars portfolio and opens a new revenue stream in a high-value therapy area.
