CRISIL Ratings has revised the credit rating outlook on Muthoot Microfin's long-term bank facilities and non-convertible debentures from 'Stable' to 'Positive', while reaffirming the rating at 'Crisil A+'. The rating 'Crisil A+/Positive' has also been newly assigned to Rs 300 crore of NCDs. Separately, CRISIL withdrew ratings on NCDs worth Rs 150 crore after confirming they were fully redeemed. The short-term commercial paper rating of Rs 200 crore was reaffirmed at 'Crisil A1+'. Total bank loan facilities rated stand at Rs 10,000 crore. The outlook upgrade follows a similar action on the parent Muthoot Fincorp and reflects CRISIL's view of continued parental support, adequate capitalisation (networth Rs 2,641 crore, gearing 2.8x), and stabilising collections, despite higher delinquencies (90+ dpd at 6.2% as of June 2025).
Positive signal for shareholders — the outlook upgrade signals improving confidence in asset quality recovery and earnings, though profitability remains weak with a marginal Rs 6 crore profit in Q1 FY26 against a Rs 222 crore loss in FY25. Reduced debt obligations from NCD redemptions also strengthen the balance sheet.
