Nandan Denim's board has approved acquiring a 6.1% equity stake in Opera Vayu (Narmada) Private Limited, a special purpose vehicle set up for a wind-solar hybrid power plant in Gujarat. The company will invest ₹4,00,20,960 (about ₹4 crore) in cash to buy 40,02,096 shares of ₹10 face value, and will also provide a ₹1.90 crore bank guarantee. Through this move, Nandan Denim aims to procure 4.3 MW of renewable power for its Bareja plant for 25 years at competitive rates, reducing its long-term power costs. The deal is expected to be completed by June 30, 2026, and is not a related party transaction.
This is a small, strategic investment (about 6.1% stake) aimed at securing cheaper captive renewable energy for operations, not a transformative deal. Shareholders should see this as a cost-saving, ESG-friendly step that could improve long-term margins at the Bareja plant, but it is unlikely to move the stock price meaningfully on its own.
