NHC Foods Ltd has set up a new manufacturing plant in Sonale Village, Bhiwandi (Thane, Maharashtra) to produce packaged drinking water and carbonated soft drinks, marking its entry into the beverage/FMCG sector. The company will invest approximately Rs. 12 crore in this new facility, funded through a mix of internal accruals and borrowings. The plant has an installed capacity of 200 bottles per minute (BPM) for each product line — packaged drinking water and carbonated soft drinks. This is a completely new line of business for the company, as existing capacity for these products is nil. The company stated that capacity utilization will be ramped up progressively based on market demand.
This is a diversification move into a new, potentially high-growth category (beverages) which could support long-term revenue growth, but the company is a small player entering a competitive space dominated by large FMCG companies — execution and market acceptance risks remain. The Rs. 12 crore investment will also add to the company's debt and capital expenditure commitments.
