NHPC signed an MoA with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh on June 16, 2026 to implement the 3097 MW Etalin Hydro Electric Project on the Dri and Tangon rivers in the Dibang Basin. The project will be built on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer basis for a 40-year lease from the commercial operating date. It will be a run-of-the-river scheme under the state's 2008 hydro power policy. NHPC will handle preliminary investigation, DPR preparation, financing, development, commissioning, and operation.
