The Ministry of Steel, Government of India has communicated the appointment of Shri Anurag Kapil, an IRAS officer currently serving as ED (Finance) – Expenditure at the Railway Board, as Director (Finance) on the Board of NMDC Limited. The appointment is on immediate absorption basis for a period of 5 years from the date of assumption of charge, or until further orders. As per an earlier Ministry order, functional directors of NMDC Limited also serve on the board of NMDC Steel Limited on a co-terminus basis, so Shri Kapil will additionally take on the role of Director (Finance) at NMDC Steel Limited once he assumes charge.
This is a government-nominated board-level appointment and a routine succession development for the PSU. It is unlikely to cause any immediate stock price movement but fills a key finance leadership role on the board.
