NTPC has successfully completed the trial operation of its 660 MW Unit-3 at the North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project (3 x 660 MW configuration). With this, the unit has been formally added to NTPC's installed capacity. NTPC's total installed capacity now stands at 60,266 MW on a standalone basis and 81,368 MW on a group basis. This marks another milestone in the commissioning of the North Karanpura project, which when fully operational will add 1,980 MW of thermal power capacity.
Positive for shareholders — addition of 660 MW of operational capacity strengthens NTPC's generation base and is expected to contribute to revenue and earnings going forward. The incremental capacity may support improved plant availability factor and meet rising power demand.
