NTPC Limited has informed the stock exchanges that the President of India has approved the re-employment of Shri Gurdeep Singh as Chairman & Managing Director of NTPC for a period of one year beyond his superannuation date. The re-employment is on a contract basis, effective from 1st August 2025 to 31st July 2026, or until a regular incumbent takes charge, whichever is earliest. The terms and conditions will be decided by the Government of India. The company is completing the necessary statutory formalities and will file additional disclosures under SEBI LODR Regulations separately.
This ensures leadership continuity at India's largest power producer, with no disruption to the company's strategic direction. The short-term re-employment on contract suggests the government is yet to finalise a permanent replacement, which is a routine development for a PSU and unlikely to materially impact the stock.
