NTPC, through its step-down subsidiary NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, has declared commercial operation of an additional 165 MW capacity at the Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat, effective 20 February 2026. This is the second part of a larger 1200 MW solar project being built in phases. With this addition, the NTPC group's total installed capacity rises to 87,974 MW and commercial capacity to 86,894 MW. The NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) group's installed capacity now stands at 8,992.68 MW, with commercial capacity at 8,827.68 MW. The remaining capacity of the 1200 MW Khavda-II project is still under development.
Positive for shareholders as it adds to NTPC's operational renewable energy portfolio and supports future revenue from solar power generation, though the 165 MW is only a small slice of the overall 1200 MW project still being built out.
