Oil India found natural gas in its 3rd exploratory well Vijayapuram-3, located 15 km off the east coast of Andaman Islands at 355 meters water depth, in Offshore Andaman Block AN-OSHP-2018/1. This is the second of three wells to show hydrocarbon presence after Vijayapuram-2 in September 2025. Gas was confirmed at 1900 plus meters in the Eocene formation through continuous flaring. Appraisal drilling and further testing are planned.
Positive exploration update suggests potential reserve addition, but commercial viability is still under assessment with no immediate revenue impact.
