Oil India reported a natural gas discovery in the Matsyapuri formation in the shallow offshore KG-DSF/GSKW/2018 block of the Krishna Godavari Basin. Godavari-1 found gas and condensate at depths of 2,024 to 2,027 metres. Testing since October 16, 2026, yielded about 100,000 standard cubic metres of gas per day, peaking at 200,000, and about 170 barrels of condensate per day. A higher zone is being tested; commercial production has not been announced.
Positive: The discovery may add gas production and revenue if commercial viability is confirmed. Testing continues; no production plan was given.
