OneSource Specialty Pharma's partner Orbicular, along with its Canadian front-end partner, received approval from Health Canada for a generic version of Ozempic® (semaglutide injection). This is the second generic semaglutide approval in Canada, making the partners the first generic entrants in this major market. OneSource acted as the manufacturing partner, providing end-to-end manufacturing from its US FDA-approved facility in Bengaluru. Orbicular led the product development and technical program for the complex peptide. The approval follows a recent tentative approval in the United States also supported by OneSource, reinforcing the company's position in complex peptide-based injectable programs. Commercial supply to India has already begun following product launches in March.
The back-to-back approvals in two major regulated markets (Canada and US) strengthen OneSource's credibility as a global CDMO and highlight its manufacturing capabilities for complex peptide-based injectables, which could drive future partnerships and revenue growth.
