Orchid Pharma is buying all the assets of Germany's Allecra Therapeutics GmbH and France's Allecra Therapeutics SAS, both of which were in insolvency. The assets include intellectual property, trademarks, customer contracts, and regulatory filings tied to Enmetazobactam, a novel antibiotic sold globally as EXBLIFEP and in India as Orblicef. Orchid already had a partial stake in the drug through Allecra, and these deals will give it 100% global ownership, bringing full control of the molecule back to India. The transactions are going through the respective insolvency administrators in Germany and France, with a French court already accepting Orchid's binding bid on July 30, 2025.
For shareholders, this means Orchid Pharma now controls the entire global rights to a key antibiotic product, which could boost future revenue and margins by removing earlier splits in ownership. It also positions the company as the owner of India's first novel antibiotic discovery, which may support long-term growth in international markets.
