Patel Engineering has settled a long-running dispute with Acron Developers Pvt Ltd that was before the Bombay High Court. The original arbitration award from February 2020 went against the company for about Rs. 26.56 crore plus 18% annual interest and arbitration costs of Rs. 3.82 crore. The company's attempt to challenge this award was dismissed by the High Court on July 14, 2025, and the total liability had grown to about Rs. 56.56 crore by September 29, 2025. The parties then agreed to a full and final settlement of Rs. 38.85 crore, saving the company roughly Rs. 17-18 crore versus the accruing liability. The first installment of Rs. 12.42 crore (after adjusting Rs. 11 crore already deposited in court) was paid on September 30, 2025, with three more installments due by end of December 2025. The company says the settlement will be paid from internal accruals and will not materially affect liquidity or operations.
This brings closure to a multi-year legal overhang but confirms the company had to absorb a significant payout (~Rs. 38.85 crore) from a lost arbitration. While the discounted settlement is better than letting interest keep compounding, shareholders should note this as a negative financial event that will hit Q2 FY26 earnings. Near-term stock reaction may be muted since the outcome was largely anticipated.
