Moody's has changed Piramal Finance's rating outlook to 'Positive' from 'Stable' while affirming its long-term corporate family rating and senior secured debt rating at Ba3. The positive outlook reflects expected improvement in asset quality and profitability over the next 12 months, supported by high capitalization (TCE/TMA of 26.6% and capital adequacy of 20.3% as of Dec 2025). Return on assets improved to 1.4% in the nine months ending December 2025 from 0.6% in FY2025, and stage 3 loans stood at 2.5% of gross loans. Legacy real estate exposures declined to 5% of total assets from 9%. This follows recent upgrades from CRISIL, S&P, CARE, and ICRA. Consolidated assets stood at INR 1.03 trillion as of December 2025.
This is a positive credit signal for Piramal Finance, indicating strengthening fundamentals and potential for a future rating upgrade. A positive outlook from Moody's, combined with upgrades from four other agencies, should improve investor confidence and potentially lower borrowing costs for the company.
