Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited (Hooghly CSL) has secured a 'Notable' order (classified in the Rs 100–250 crore range) from Heritage River Journeys Private Limited, which operates the Antara River Cruises brand. The contract covers construction of two luxury river cruise vessels to be deployed on the Brahmaputra River, with an agreement signed for the first vessel and a Letter of Intent for the second. The vessels will be the first luxury river cruise vessels classified under India's Inland Vessels Rules, 2022. The order is from a domestic private client with no promoter or related-party interest, and it aligns with the government's Make in India initiative.
This is a positive development for CSL as it adds meaningful new order inflow (potentially ~Rs 100–250 crore range) in the growing inland luxury cruise segment, diversifies beyond defence/shipbuilding into tourism infrastructure, and strengthens the order book of its subsidiary. Shareholders may view it as a modest positive, though the scale is not large enough to materially shift the stock price on its own.
