PNB has reported a borrowal fraud of about Rs 1,240.94 crore against SREI Equipment Finance Ltd and Rs 1,193.06 crore against SREI Infrastructure Finance Ltd, totalling around Rs 2,434 crore, to the RBI. Both companies were previously resolved under the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process by NCLT. The bank has already made full 100 percent provisions on the entire outstanding amounts, so the financial hit is already absorbed in past books.
Fully provisioned and already under insolvency resolution; minimal fresh impact on the bank or stock price.
