Reliance Industries' step-down wholly owned subsidiary, Nauyaan Tradings Private Limited (NTPL), has completed the acquisition of an additional 10% equity stake in Nauyaan Shipyard Private Limited (NSPL) from Welspun Corp Limited. The deal was done for an aggregate consideration of Rs. 51.72 crore. NSPL is already a step-down subsidiary of Reliance, so this transaction further consolidates Reliance's effective ownership in the shipyard business. The acquisition was completed on April 11, 2025, a day after the initial disclosure on April 10, 2025.
The financial impact is small relative to Reliance's overall scale, with the Rs. 51.72 crore consideration being modest. However, the move signals continued consolidation of Reliance's shipyard business, strengthening its strategic position in the marine/shipbuilding segment. Shareholders are unlikely to see a significant short-term stock reaction.
