Reliance Power Limited reported its Q4 and FY2026 audited financial results. Consolidated revenue from operations for FY2026 stood at Rs 7,61,971 lakhs, marginally higher than Rs 7,58,289 lakhs in FY2025. However, the company posted a consolidated loss of Rs 33,689 lakhs for FY2026 compared to a profit of Rs 2,94,783 lakhs in FY2025 (the prior year profit included a one-time gain of Rs 3,23,042 lakhs from deconsolidation of a subsidiary). The board appointed Dr. Avinash Gupta as an Additional Independent Director for 5 years and appointed M/s Kailash Chand Jain & Co. as the new Statutory Auditor for 5 years. The board also sought shareholder authorization to raise up to Rs 6,000 crore via equity/equity-linked instruments and Rs 3,000 crore via NCDs. Key concerns include subsidiary-level going concern issues (RSTEPL, SMPL), ongoing ED investigations regarding a fake bank guarantee matter (where a former KMP was arrested), SEBI-initiated forensic audit, and a CIRP petition filed against the parent company by a lender of subsidiary SMPL.
The company is facing multiple regulatory and operational challenges including ED investigations, SEBI forensic audit, and subsidiary-level debt defaults triggering CIRP proceedings. The proposed Rs 9,000 crore fund raise indicates significant capital requirements, likely to address debt obligations. The stock may face pressure due to qualified auditor opinions, going concern doubts at subsidiary level, and ongoing legal proceedings.
