Sagar Cements has successfully commissioned 2.80 MW out of a planned 4.35 MW Waste Heat Recovery Power System at its cement plant in Gudipadu village, Ananthapur District, Andhra Pradesh. The commissioned portion relates to the AQC (Air Quenching Cooler) boiler. The remaining 1.55 MW capacity linked to the preheater boiler is expected to be commissioned by June 2026. This is a sustainability-focused capital expenditure that will enable the company to generate power from waste heat, reducing energy costs and carbon footprint. The company had previously informed the exchange about this plan in March 2025.
This commissioning represents incremental renewable energy capacity addition that should reduce the company's power costs over time. The phased completion shows progress on their sustainability capex plan, which is positive for operating margins. Shareholders may view this favorably as it demonstrates execution capability on green energy investments.
