Motherson Lumen North America, an indirect wholly owned US subsidiary, received a USD 225,000 (about INR 21.53 million) penalty from the US IRS on Aug 18, 2026. The IRS cited alleged non-reporting of related party financial transactions (Form 5472) for FY 2024. The company says the penalty was an automated error as IRS systems were not updated to reflect an already approved change in tax year-end from June 30 to March 31. MLNA had earlier received compliance confirmation and will appeal for full abatement.
Small penalty, company calls it an error and will appeal. No material impact on financials or operations stated.
