Sanofi India's board appointed Mr. Rachid Ayari, currently the CFO, as Interim Managing Director for 6 months from July 21, 2025 to January 20, 2026, or until a permanent MD is appointed, filling the vacancy left by Mr. Rodolfo Hrosz who stepped down in April 2025. Mr. Ayari has over 8 years at Sanofi and 16 years prior at Pfizer, with international CFO experience across North Africa, Russia, Central Asia, and India. The board also appointed Mr. Aniket Raje as Head of Regulatory Affairs effective August 1, 2025, bringing 21 years of pharma industry experience. Additionally, Sanofi India signed a 5-year exclusive distribution and promotion agreement with Emcure Pharmaceuticals for its oral anti-diabetic brands Amaryl® and Cetapin® in India, while Sanofi retains manufacturing ownership.
Shareholders get leadership continuity as the existing CFO steps in as Interim MD, avoiding a leadership vacuum while a permanent MD is being searched. The Emcure partnership leverages Emcure's wide distribution network to expand reach of Sanofi's established diabetes brands in India's massive and underpenetrated diabetes market (100M+ patients), which could support future revenue growth for these mature brands.
