Sarda Energy & Minerals has received the Consent to Operate from the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board for the expansion of its Coal Washery at Raigarh. The approved capacity will increase from 0.96 MTPA to 1.8 MTPA, nearly doubling the existing capacity (about 87.5% increase). The consent has been granted under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. This regulatory clearance paves the way for the company to commence expanded operations at the facility.
Positive for shareholders — the regulatory green light enables a near-doubling of coal washery capacity, which should translate into higher volumes and revenue potential from the Raigarh facility. The market may view this as a capacity-led growth trigger, though actual ramp-up and contribution to earnings will depend on execution and coal availability.
