Share India Securities Limited's Finance Committee approved an investment of up to Rs 41 crore in Master Trust Limited (MTL) by acquiring up to 27 lakh equity shares at market price. Share India currently holds 1.86% of MTL, and its wholly-owned subsidiary Share India Algoplus holds 1.92%; after this acquisition, the combined holding will rise to 6.14%. MTL is a listed, diversified financial services company (stock broking, PMS, insurance broking, wealth management) founded in 1985 with a turnover of about Rs 20 crore in FY25 and net worth of Rs 414 crore as of March 2024. The investment is being made to deploy surplus funds under treasury management for better returns while maintaining liquidity, and will be completed within 2 working days in cash.
This is a treasury investment rather than a strategic acquisition, so core business operations remain unchanged. Shareholders may view it as a neutral-to-positive move as surplus cash is being put to use for better returns, but the 6.14% stake is too small to give any meaningful influence over MTL.
