Shoppers Stop reported standalone revenue of Rs 1,094.19 crores for Q1FY26, up about 5.8% from Rs 1,033.70 crores in the same quarter last year. Consolidated revenue grew roughly 8.6% to Rs 1,161.08 crores. Despite the revenue growth, the company remained in the red, posting a standalone net loss of Rs 17.89 crores and a consolidated net loss of Rs 15.74 crores, though both losses narrowed compared to the Rs 22+ crore losses a year ago. The auditor flagged an emphasis of matter on a pending Supreme Court case over non-provisioning of retrospective service tax of Rs 20.11 crores (consolidated) for 2007–2010. Separately, founder Chairman B.S. Nagesh retired effective July 17, 2025, and Nirvik Singh will take over as Chairman from July 18, 2025.
Improving topline and shrinking losses are mildly positive, but the company is still loss-making, so near-term profitability remains the key watchpoint. The leadership change at the chairman level is a meaningful governance shift investors should track, and the unresolved service tax matter is a contingent risk overhang.
