Shriram Finance has informed the stock exchanges that Japan's MUFG Bank Ltd has received approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) on March 25, 2026 for its proposed investment in the company. The deal involves MUFG subscribing to 47,11,21,055 equity shares (about 47.11 crore shares) of Shriram Finance through a preferential issue on a private placement basis, as per the Investment Agreement signed on December 19, 2025. While the CCI approval is a key regulatory milestone, the transaction is still subject to other conditions precedent outlined in the Investment Agreement before it can be completed.
This is a positive development for Shriram Finance shareholders as it clears a major regulatory hurdle for a significant investment by a global banking major, which could strengthen the company's capital base and growth prospects once the deal closes.
