Shyam Metalics announced a ₹2,700 crore expansion programme on top of its existing ₹16,060 crore capex pipeline, of which ₹8,700 crore has already been deployed. The new plan includes ₹900 cr for entry into Special Bar Quality (SBQ) steel and ₹1,800 cr for stainless steel downstream expansion. Entire investment will be funded through internal accruals, with no debt. The projects target commissioning by 2029 to shift toward higher-margin, value-added products and reduce import dependence.
Fully internally funded — no balance sheet stress. Shift to higher-margin specialty steel may boost long-term earnings. Board approval pending.
