Simplex Castings has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with Raipur-based Natraj Energy for a 5.5 MWp grid-connected solar power plant to supply renewable electricity to its Bhilai and Tedesara manufacturing facilities in Chhattisgarh. Under the deal, the company expects to save around ₹2.16 Crores annually on energy costs, as solar power will bring its effective per-unit electricity cost down from ₹9 to about ₹5-6 per unit. The arrangement is structured on a cash-neutral basis, meaning Simplex Castings won't need to spend upfront capital — Natraj Energy will develop, own, and operate the plant for the entire 25-year term. This is a cost-optimization and sustainability move rather than a new revenue contract.
Modest but meaningful margin support — annual savings of ~₹2.16 Cr add directly to operating profits with zero upfront capex, while locking in predictable energy costs for 25 years. Positive for ESG positioning but unlikely to be a major stock catalyst on its own.
