Standard Engineering Technology (SETL) board approved a phased strategic investment in Japan's GL HAKKO Co. Ltd., which makes glass-lined process equipment for pharma, chemical and semiconductor-chemical sectors. Phase I: acquire 19.19% stake for around INR 693 million. Phase II: additional 31.88% stake for around INR 1,167 million within 3 years, taking total holding to 51.07%. Total cash investment about INR 1,860 million. GL HAKKO's FY26 turnover was INR 1,904 million. It is a related party deal and subject to regulatory approvals including FEFTA in Japan.
Phased entry into Japan with proprietary glass-lining technology. Positive for global expansion, but execution and regulatory risks remain.
