State Bank of India has closed its Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) and approved the allotment of 30,59,97,552 equity shares at ₹817 per share (face value ₹1, premium ₹816 per share) to eligible Qualified Institutional Buyers. The total issue size works out to approximately ₹25,000 crore. The issue opened on July 16, 2025 and closed on July 21, 2025, with funds received in the Escrow Account. The Committee also approved the Placement Document and the Confirmation of Allocation Note to be sent to the QIBs.
This ₹25,000 crore capital raise will strengthen SBI's equity capital base, supporting future lending growth and regulatory capital adequacy, but will result in dilution for existing shareholders. The stock may see short-term pressure post-allotment, though the capital infusion is positive for long-term growth.
