SBI reported Q1 FY26 standalone net profit of ₹19,160.44 crore, up 12.5% from ₹17,035.16 crore in Q1 FY25. Total income rose about 10.3% YoY to ₹1,35,341.56 crore, driven by healthy growth in interest on advances and other income. Asset quality improved with gross NPA ratio falling to 1.83% (vs 2.21% YoY) and net NPA to 0.47%. Capital adequacy strengthened to 14.63% under Basel III (vs 13.86% YoY). During the quarter, SBI sold its 14.96% stake in Jio Payments Bank to Jio Financial Services, completed revaluation of properties adding ₹7,288.81 crore to reserves, and undertook RRB amalgamation impacting consolidated P&L by ₹669.50 crore. A ₹25,000 crore QIP at ₹817/share was approved on July 21, 2025, expanding share capital to ₹923.06 crore.
Results show steady profit growth, improving asset quality, and strong capital buffers — supportive of the stock. The large ₹25,000 crore QIP will lead to share dilution but boosts capital for future lending growth. Net NPA at multi-year lows and stable PCR at 74.49% reinforce balance-sheet strength.
