In the test, the quantum signal travelled through one fibre core while high-speed classical data was simultaneously carried through the other three cores, achieving a stable, error-free link. The MCF cable was deployed at the DoT-sponsored Advanced Optical Communications Test Bed at IIT-Madras, complying with TEC standards. STL claims it is the first company globally to deploy MCF cables in both underground and aerial network infrastructure. The breakthrough is positioned as supporting India's 5G/6G rollout and future quantum-secure communication needs.
