Sundaram Clayton's board has approved relocating all machining activities from its Mahindra World City (MWC) Plant in Chengalpattu to its other plants at Thervoy Kandigai and Oragadam. The MWC Plant currently accounts for Rs. 261.63 crore in turnover, or 12.32% of the company's total revenue, and 7.23% of net worth. The company clarified there will be no impact on revenue since it is only a relocation of operations, not a closure. The move is expected to be completed by 30th September 2025. The company says the consolidation will streamline operations, cut costs, and improve efficiency by using the more advanced technology at the Thervoy Kandigai and Oragadam facilities.
Neutral to mildly positive for shareholders — no revenue loss expected and the company expects cost savings and better efficiency in the long run, though the transition period carries short-term execution risk.
