Suryoday Small Finance Bank reported Q1 FY26 results with total income of Rs. 60,382 lakhs, up about 14% from Rs. 53,068 lakhs in Q1 FY25. However, profit before tax fell sharply to Rs. 4,683 lakhs from Rs. 7,006 lakhs in the year-ago quarter, while net profit stood at around Rs. 3,528 lakhs versus Rs. 3,891 lakhs earlier. Asset quality showed mixed signals: gross NPA rose to 3.32% from 2.84% YoY, but net NPA improved significantly to 0.22% from 0.47%. Capital adequacy ratio (CRAR) stood strong at 24.61%. The statutory auditor was changed from Walker Chandiok & Co. LLP to Mukund M. Chitale & Co. The auditor flagged an emphasis of matter regarding Rs. 5,388 lakhs lower NPA provisions and a CRAR boost of about 291 basis points, both arising from the CGFMU credit guarantee scheme on unsecured loans.
Mixed quarter for shareholders — healthy revenue growth and improved net NPA, but weaker profitability and a higher gross NPA year-on-year may pressure the stock. The shift to claiming CGFMU guarantee benefits boosts reported numbers, but investors should note these are accounting/effective CRAR boosts rather than fresh capital, and the new auditor adds an additional layer to track.
