TNPL reported FY25 total revenue of Rs. 4,588.31 Crore, down 3.6% from Rs. 4,761.80 Crore last year. Profit before tax collapsed to Rs. 5.30 Crore from Rs. 324.76 Crore in FY24, and profit after tax fell sharply to Rs. 3.73 Crore from Rs. 208.16 Crore, mainly due to cheaper paper imports from ASEAN and a 20-25% rise in domestic hardwood pulp prices. For Q4 FY25, revenue rose to Rs. 1,393.79 Crore but profit after tax dropped to Rs. 22.12 Crore from Rs. 32.99 Crore a year ago. The board recommended a final dividend of Rs. 3 per share (30%) for FY25, subject to shareholder approval at the AGM on September 19, 2025. Additionally, the board appointed R. Rengarajan as CFO and KMP effective July 1, 2025, and Yogendra Kumar Varshney as Executive Director (Operations) and Chief Risk Officer.
Sharp year-on-year decline in profitability highlights ongoing margin pressure from cheap imports and rising input costs, which may weigh on the stock in the short term. The maintained 30% dividend offers some support to income-focused shareholders, while the new CFO and CRO appointments signal a focus on financial discipline and risk management going forward.
