Tata Steel Limited has completed the acquisition of a 26% equity stake in TP Adarsh Limited (TPAL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL). The acquisition was executed via subscription of 59,00,000 equity shares of face value ₹10 each, for an aggregate consideration of ₹5.9 crore (approx. ₹6 crore as originally approved). Following the transaction, TPAL has become an indirect associate company of Tata Steel. The company executed a Share Subscription and Shareholders' Agreement (SSSA) with TPREL and TPAL to formalise the deal.
This is a relatively small strategic investment (₹5.9 crore) by Tata Steel into the renewable energy space via a TPREL subsidiary, aligning with broader decarbonisation and clean energy themes. The financial impact on Tata Steel's consolidated financials is negligible, but it signals continued diversification beyond core steel operations.
