Tata Steel has completed the sale of its Ferro Alloy Plant located at Jajpur, Odisha to Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd. (IMFA) for a base consideration of ₹610 crore (net of GST and excluding working capital). The transaction follows an Asset Transfer Agreement signed on November 4, 2025, and has been concluded after receiving all necessary regulatory approvals on February 27, 2026. The plant was a supporting input material operation (ferro alloys are used in steelmaking) rather than primary steel production. Proceeds from this divestment will likely be redeployed into Tata Steel's core steel manufacturing operations and debt reduction efforts.
Positive for shareholders in the short term — the company receives ₹610 crore in cash from a non-core asset sale, which strengthens the balance sheet. Minimal impact on steel production volumes since ferro alloys is an auxiliary business. Likely neutral to mildly positive for the stock.
