TCPL Packaging board approved entering lithium-ion battery separator film manufacturing through a new subsidiary. Investment of about Rs.125 crore over 18 months, funded via internal accruals and debt. Commercial production targeted Q4 FY2028. Initial capacity 70 million square metres annually (supporting 6-8 GWh of cell output), scaling to about 500 million square metres (about 50 GWh) over 5-7 years. Aims to tap India's battery materials demand driven by EVs and energy storage.
New long-term growth platform beyond packaging; Rs.125 crore capex; long gestation with production only from Q4 FY2028 so near-term revenue impact limited.
