Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers (MCFL) has completed the acquisition of part of Zuari Agro Chemicals' (ZACL) business on a slump sale, going-concern basis, effective September 30, 2025. The deal covers ZACL's granulated single super phosphate (SSP) plant located in Mahad, Maharashtra, along with related assets. The total lump-sum consideration paid is Rs. 72.75 crores. MCFL will now operate the acquired business starting October 1, 2025. This follows the earlier disclosure of the Business Transfer Agreement (BTA) made on August 29, 2025.
MCFL expands its fertilizer manufacturing footprint by adding the Mahad SSP plant to its portfolio, which could contribute incremental revenue and strengthen its position in the phosphate fertilizer segment. For shareholders, the acquisition is relatively modest in size (Rs. 72.75 crores) and may be viewed as a strategic, capacity-additive move rather than a transformative deal.
