The South Indian Bank reported audited standalone and consolidated results for Q4 and FY ended March 31, 2025. Net profit rose about 22% to Rs.1,302.88 crore from Rs.1,070.08 crore in FY24, on the back of total income growth of nearly 11% to Rs.11,226.74 crore and a stronger operating margin of 20.22% versus 18.44% last year. Asset quality improved sharply, with gross NPA ratio falling to 3.20% from 4.50% and net NPA to 0.92% from 1.46%, while capital adequacy stood at 19.31%. The Board recommended a higher dividend of Rs.0.40 per share (40%) compared with Rs.0.30 (30%) in the previous year. However, operating cash flow turned negative at about Rs.(2,352.95) crore for FY25 versus a positive Rs.7,075.20 crore last year, as the bank sharply grew advances by Rs.8,195 crore. Joint statutory auditors K Venkatachalam Aiyer & Co and M.P. Chitale & Co gave an unmodified opinion on the results.
Net positive for shareholders with higher profits, cleaner balance sheet, and a bigger dividend, though the swing to negative operating cash flow signals that aggressive loan growth is consuming cash and may need close monitoring.
