Titan's Board has approved a succession plan for the Managing Director position. Current MD C.K. Venkataraman will retire on 31st December 2025 on attaining superannuation age under the Tata Group's retirement policy. He joined Titan in 1990 and has been MD since October 2019. Ajoy Chawla, currently CEO of Titan's Jewellery Division, will take over as MD from 1st January 2026, subject to shareholder approval. Ajoy is a Tata Administrative Services veteran (since 1990) who has held multiple roles across the Watches and Jewellery businesses, and under his leadership the Jewellery Division grew 2.5x in sales and profits. His successor in the Jewellery Division will be decided later.
A smooth, planned internal succession with continuity in strategy, since the incoming MD is a long-tenured Titan insider who has run the largest division. Investors are likely to view this positively given the orderly transition, though Venkat's exit removes a seasoned leader.
