UCO Bank posted Q1 FY27 net profit of Rs 656.32 crore versus Rs 607.44 crore a year ago, up 8%. Total income grew 15% to Rs 8,582 crore. Operating profit before provisions surged 81% to Rs 2,810 crore. However, a one-time tax charge of Rs 1,237 crore from switching to the new lower tax regime under Section 115BAA raised tax provisions and weighed on PAT. Asset quality improved with gross NPA at 2.08% versus 2.63% YoY, net NPA at 0.25%. Capital adequacy rose to 19.03%. Auditors gave an unmodified opinion.
Modest headline PAT growth masked by one-time tax drag; sharp improvement in asset quality and operating profit signals underlying strength.
