UltraTech Cement has added 1.4 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of cement production capacity through debottlenecking and efficiency upgrades at three existing grinding units. The additions are 0.6 mtpa at Nagpur (Maharashtra), 0.4 mtpa at Panipat (Haryana), and 0.4 mtpa at Jhajjar (Haryana). With this, UltraTech's total domestic grey cement capacity now stands at 184.76 mtpa, and global capacity (including overseas) at 190.16 mtpa. The capacity has already been commissioned and stabilized.
This is a positive operational update for shareholders — capacity addition via debottlenecking typically requires lower capital outlay than greenfield projects and boosts utilization and revenue potential. The steady capacity expansion reinforces UltraTech's market leadership position in the Indian cement industry.
