Vikram Solar's board approved a capex of about Rs 4,371 crore through wholly owned subsidiary VSL Powerhive for Phase 1 of its Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) roadmap. The plan includes a 5 GWh BESS manufacturing facility at Oragadam, Tamil Nadu by FY27, plus 7.5 GWh battery cell manufacturing by FY29, part of a broader 30 GWh roadmap. Funding will come from a mix of debt and equity. Board also cleared a postal ballot to appoint two new directors.
Major capex push into BESS and battery cell manufacturing. Could lift long-term growth but raises debt and execution risk. Watch funding and approvals.
