Vraj Iron and Steel's Board has approved setting up a new Rolling Mill at its Bilaspur plant to manufacture TMT Bars with an installed capacity of 1,50,000 tons per annum. The project is estimated to cost Rs. 35 Crores (plus GST), with a variation of up to 1.5%, and is targeted to be completed in Financial Year 2026-27. The company currently has a capacity of 54,000 TPA at its Raipur unit, running at about 67% utilization. The expansion will be funded mainly through internal accruals, with a possible short-term unsecured loan of up to Rs. 10 Crores from promoters at 7.5% interest per annum.
The new mill will significantly expand the company's finished steel capacity (nearly 3x current capacity), boosting revenue potential and market position in TMT bars. For shareholders, this is a growth-oriented capex that could enhance long-term profitability, though it also increases execution and capacity utilization risk if demand does not keep pace.
