GMR Airports subsidiary GVIAL started commercial operations at Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport (Bhogapuram) in Andhra Pradesh on August 17, 2026. The greenfield airport was inaugurated by PM Modi on August 1. Initial capacity is 6 million passengers per year, expandable to 40 million. It has a 3,800m runway handling wide-body aircraft. Day one saw 52 air traffic movements with flights connecting Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore.
