Jio Financial Services (JFSL) announced a binding agreement with Allianz Europe B.V. to form a 50:50 joint venture for general and health insurance in India. The Board approved the JV on April 22, 2026, and the agreement was signed at 5:32 PM IST the same day. This formalizes a non-binding term sheet first signed in July 2025. The JV will begin operations once it receives statutory and regulatory approvals. The two companies are also separately working towards a binding agreement for life insurance. JFSL already operates a 50:50 reinsurance JV with Allianz called Allianz Jio Reinsurance Limited, and a separate 50:50 asset management JV with BlackRock.
This is a strategic expansion into primary (general and health) insurance for JFSL, combining Reliance's massive digital reach with Allianz's global insurance expertise. It strengthens JFSL's full-stack financial services play and could support long-term growth, though the JV is not yet operational and depends on regulatory clearances.
