Manaksia Steels is expanding its Cold Rolled Coils production capacity at its existing Haldia, West Bengal unit by adding a new 6-Hi Reversible Cold Rolling Mill. The current capacity stands at 1,20,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) with utilisation of about 82%. The company will add 2,50,000 TPA, taking total capacity to 3,70,000 TPA — roughly a three-fold increase. The project is expected to be completed by Q4 of FY2027-28 and will cost around Rs. 100 crores, funded through a mix of debt and internal accruals. The expansion is aimed at meeting captive demand and growing domestic as well as international sales.
This is a significant growth-oriented capex announcement that could boost future revenues, but the long gestation till FY2027-28 means benefits are back-end loaded. The use of debt along with internal accruals may modestly pressure the balance sheet in the interim.
