Moneyboxx Finance has transferred ₹60.90 crore of NPAs and written-off accounts to an ARC trust in exchange for Security Receipts in a 15:85 ratio, effective June 30, 2025. This cleanup significantly improved asset quality: GNPA dropped from 7.28% to 1.11%, 90+ PAR fell from 7.89% to 3.36%, and collection efficiency rose to 93.6% from 89.3%. The company expects 40-50% recovery on the over ₹80 crore recoverable value through focused collections and SARFAESI legal action. Separately, Moneyboxx is pivoting toward secured lending (now 53% of AUM, targeting 65% by Mar'26 and 80% by Mar'27), strengthened its collection team to 180+ members, and maintains a healthy CRAR of 28.4%.
This is a positive move for shareholders — it cleans up the balance sheet, sharply improves asset quality metrics, and removes a major overhang from the MFI sector stress. However, the underlying GNPA spike from 1.51% to 6.61% earlier highlights broader microfinance sector weakness, and future recovery from the ARC pool remains uncertain. Investors should watch whether the shift to secured lending sustainably improves profitability.
