State Bank of India (SBI) has called a General Meeting of Shareholders on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 3:00 PM, to be held via Video Conferencing from the State Bank Auditorium in Mumbai. The sole business of the meeting is to elect four Directors to the Central Board under Section 19(c) of the SBI Act, 1955, to fill vacancies created by the retirement of four existing directors — Ketan S. Vikamsey, Mrugank M. Paranjape, Rajesh Kumar Dubey, and Dharmendra Singh Shekhawat — whose terms end on June 25, 2026. The newly elected directors will serve a three-year term from June 26, 2026 to June 25, 2029. Shareholders holding at least 5,000 unencumbered shares can contest the election (nominations due by April 24, 2026), while those with 50 or more shares held for at least three months can vote via remote e-voting from May 12-14, 2026. SBI Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty has signed the notice, which was also published in the Gazette of India on March 19, 2026.
This is a routine end-of-term board reconstitution at SBI, with four independent directors being replaced through a shareholder election. No immediate impact on share price is expected; however, the identity and profile of the newly elected directors could influence governance quality and board composition going forward.
